Wide Asleep
Waiting for long hours
Lets my mind begin to wander,
Dreams usurping reality,
A fragile balance torn asunder.
I cannot be completely certain,
Sleeping or wide awake?
Is that which I see real?
Or is it just a convincing fake?
And falling, always falling.
Voices swirling in thick mists.
Hello? Is anybody here?
Do I even exist?
Echoes blend in a chorus
That reverberates along my thoughts
Sleep comes, like a good friend,
I welcome it, this way out that I sought.
But the silence lasts only an instant,
My mind is free again!
And I bid goodbye to all my dreams,
Farewell, till we meet again!
